This past November, BasaliTech was announced as one of the winners of the MissDotAfrica Digital Seed Fund amounting to $1000 and the former indicated they would use the funds to advance girls in STEM.

The Lesotho non-profit will now host a 5-day coding / programming camp on 16th – 20th December 2019 in Maseru, Lesotho for girls aged 15-18 to impart them with website development skills.

BasaliTech aims to interest girls in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics courses and careers which are currently male dominated. All this in effort to drive diversity and empower young girls through technology as part of the UNDP sustainable development goals.

Applications for the camp are open here for girls who wish to be selected to be a part of this Code Divas Cohort and will close on the 9th December 2019. Interested parties with website development skills who would like to volunteer as trainers are welcome to indicate their interest here.

This camp happens amid one of BasaliTech’s initiatives, the Start-Up World Cup (SWC) Regional Competition where the Lesotho winner will be sent to the USA to participate in the grand final and compete for $1,000,000 as well as other investment opportunities.

The Start-Up World Cup unlike the coding camp is open to both male and female led startups which may or may not be technology related. Submit your application here.
