Applications are invited from suitably qualified local candidates for the following Local Government Service (Maseru City Council) positions:
JOB TITLE : WORKS ENGINEER
GRADE : I
DEPARTMENT : WORKS
RESPONSIBLE TO : CITY ENGINEER
JOB SUMMARY
Administers engineering site works for the Council.
MAIN DUTIES
- Supervises the carrying out of road construction, rehabilitation repairs for low running cost operation of vehicles.
- Ascertains economic acquisition of road construction equipment to protect heavy expenditure.
- Organizes resources for road maintenance works for their best and optimum use (maintenance plans and designs).
- Liaise with design engineer in translating design work to sitework so as to avoid costly implementation.
- Re-measure siteworks carried out by contractors to agree quantities on work done.
- Monitors and holds site meetings with contractors for smooth running of projects.
- Prepares weekly reports for work records.
- Oversees the work if labour-based unit for producing work of high standard quality.
- Carryout such other relevant work as may be assigned by the Head of Department.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Recognized degree in Civil engineering.
- Work experience of minimum of three (3) years’ experience mainly in road design construction.
- Must be computer literacy in CAD and FIDC proficient.
