Applications are invited from suitably qualified local candidates for the following Local Government Service (Maseru City Council) positions:
JOB TITLE: WORKS ENGINEER
GRADE: I
DEPARTMENT: WORKS
RESPONSIBLE TO: CITY ENGINEER
JOB SUMMARY: Administers engineering site works for the Council.
Main Duties:
- Supervise the carrying out of road construction, rehabilitation repairs for low running cost operation of vehicles.
- Ascertain economic acquisition of road construction equipment to protect heavy expenditure.
- Organize resources for road maintenance works for their best and optimum use (maintenance plans and designs).
- Liaise with design engineer in translating design work to site work to avoid costly implementation.
- Re-measure site works carried out by contractors to agree quantities on work done.
- Monitor and hold site meetings with contractors for smooth running of projects.
- Prepare weekly reports for work records.
- Oversee the work of labour-based unit for producing work of high standard quality.
- Carry out such other relevant work as may be assigned by the Head of Department.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Recognized degree in Civil Engineering.
- Minimum of four (4) years’ experience mainly in road design construction.
- Must be computer literate in CAD and FIDC proficient.
