The Orange Senqu River Commission (ORASECOM), with support from UNDP, has secured financial support from GEF to implement selected priority activities of the Orange-Senqu River Strategic Action Programme (SAP).
ORASECOM is looking for a suitable candidate for the following Position:-
Water Quality Environmental Expert
Responsibility:
Ensure successful delivery of the project component Component 2: Reducing stress on water resources quality and any elements relating to water quality and environmental monitoring.
Requirements:
Graduate and/or postgraduate degree(s) in a subject(s) related to the assignment (water resources management, ground water management and environmental management, etc.). An advanced degree can be substituted by a Bachelor’s Degreeplus 5 years of professional experience in highly relevant fields.
Minimum of 5 years relevant professional experience, including at minimum 3 years in IWRM, institutional and policy matters related to water and/or natural resources management.
Experience in ecosystem-based management, surface and groundwater resources and conjunctive management and other fields related to implementation of the SAP will be an advantage.
Experience in transboundary water resources management in the SADC region is very important and experience in the Orange-Senqu Basin will be an advantage.
Experience in working in a donor-funded, multi-million-dollar project(s). Experience in working in a water resources management related project at a transboundary scale would be considered as a strong asset.
Understanding of Results-Based Management and monitoring and evaluation concepts and principles.
Demonstrated successful experience in the multi-partner financed programme coordination, relationship management with other partners.
Eligibility:
This position is only open to persons with work experience in an African River basin especially in the SADC region.
Term:
One-year contract, renewable based on performance, all along the project lifespan (tentatively estimated to cover the period May 2019 to April 2024)
