Warehouse Quality Controller

takealot.com, a leading South African online retailer, is looking for a highly skilled Warehouse Quality Controller to join our Cape Town Warehouse team.

This position reports to the Inventory Manager and you may or may not have direct reports, depending on the size of the business at the time of employment.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Inspect product for accuracy and conformance to set manufacturing and business specifications across our four departments i.e. Women’s wear, men’s’ wear, footwear and apartment.
• Inspect PO’s, ensuring suppliers meet Warehouse standard product delivery and packaging requirements.
• Inspect in a more detailed manner private label product, referencing the tech-pack.
• Maintain accurate and organized records of inspections.
• Discuss (telephonically) and report (electronically) inspection results daily to the Supply Chain team.
• Actively improve our quality assurance process.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area.
• Produce daily reports to ensure key critical areas of Quality are controlled and any discrepancies addressed and resolved.
• Manage control measures to ensure quality minimize mistakes, minimizing & handling of damages, inaccuracies and discrepancies are highlighted, addressed and resolved.
• Ensure materials are ready and available for production as and when required.
• Ensuring a safe working area.

Qualifications and attributes:

• Matric Certificate/Grade 12 or equivalent
• Certificate in Clothing & Textiles beneficial
• Ideally possessing a relevant professional qualification and/or suitable background experience in inventory management/purchasing
• Experience in quality control in a Fashion/Retail environment is beneficial
• Proficient in Microsoft Office
• Experience in reporting, collaborating and attending to various tasks while working independently
• A team player who is not afraid to get their hands dirty
• Timeous and consistent individual
• Great eye for detail, and a problem-solving thinker
• Have a detailed understanding of inventory control/warehouse management systems
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills for a demanding and customer focused working environment
• Possess excellent personal organisation and business administration skills in accordance with modern best practice methods
• Possess the ability to work productively, efficiently & effectively with initiative and drive under tight timescales and pressure whilst maintaining attention to detail and quality
• Possess the willingness to learn, improve and adapt
• Good team player, hard worker, willing to be flexible with a positive attitude
• Must be able to work as part of a multi-cultural team

• Shift work aligned with agreed roster, that can change from time to time
