VPUU NPC is a Public Benefit Organisation implementing multisectoral integrated area based upgrading programmes of neighbourhoods in townships and informal settlements. This is done in partnership with communities, municipalities, provincial and national government. They work in an integrated team of community participation, socio economic development, operation and maintenance, planning and design, infrastructure development, and knowledge management towards sustainable urban neighbourhoods.

For our team we are looking for
VPUU NPC seeks to appoint a Centre Manager to be based in Cape Town.
The purpose of the position is to manage, initiate, and coordinate C Section and A Section Monwabisi Park Neighbourhood Centres (NHC) and its activities ensuring that the space is activated and vibrant 7 days per week. Responsibilities:
Build partnerships with local structures and officials, enabling the NHC to play a constructive role in area-based and inclusive Community Development
Participatory Strategic Planning: coordinate planning in collaboration with community structures
Provide strategic and operational leadership to staff and volunteers, including
Developing a Local Project Task Team

Operational management and promotion of the NHC and collaboration with its tenants and the adjacent ECD/ ECD Resource centre
Manage and Oversee Operations and Logistics of the NHC
Manage implementation of programmes according to time-frames and planning schedules
Actively link to the other Areas of Expertise (AoE) within VPUU in particular, Safety initiatives, ECD, ICT4D, repair and maintenance

Hold regular meetings within VPUU and external stakeholders
Making creative use of social media linked to VPUU website
Mobilise for and market the activities in the NHC, including the Leaders of Change programme in local communities and among stakeholders
Supervision ad activation of ground staff
Activate Centre together with Youth Groups
Lead activators and service providers that utilize the centre
Prioritise provision of training and support focusing on areas of: social cohesion, skills development, leadership and career guidance
Keep a record of observations, best practice, issues and challenges related to the programme
Report-writing
Requirements:
Relevant qualification in Community or Social Development, Education, Project or Events Management
Experience in event management
Five years proven management experience
Experience in supervising  ground level staff
Experience in working with youth and communities in informal settlements
Knowledge of the NGO sector
Effective oral/written communication skills in at least 2 of the following languages: English, isiXhosa, Afrikaans
Experience in conducting and facilitating trainings and workshops
Computer skills (MS Office, social media, data capturing)
Strong problem-solving and organizational skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Proven leadership skills, self-motivated, passionate about social and community development
Impeccable customer service skills
Need to have the ability and flexibility to work sometimes during evenings or weekends especially for community engagements
Driver’s license and own transport
Criminal Clearance and Child Protection Register clearance
