Carewell is looking for volunteer community health advocates (VCA) in Maseru.
Overview:
In October 2010, Lesotho’s Ministry of Health (MOH) developed a national strategic and operational plan for establishing safe Voluntary Medical Male Circumcision (VMMC) and Early Infant Male Circumcision services in a prevention effort to reduce HIV transmission. Jhpiego Lesotho, in support of and collaboration with the MOH, provides VMMC training, services and quality assurance together with technical assistance in Lesotho.
Carewell seeks VCA’s to implement community mobilization activities within Maseru service delivery catchment areas. They will increase awareness and knowledge of VMMC and service delivery at the carewell, dispel myths and misconceptions about VMMC, communicate the benefits of VMMC/EIMC and mobilize potential clients to access services.
Key role includes mobilizing and linking clients to VMMC services and follow up appointments.
To Apply:
- Interested individuals should write a letter indicating their interest and hand-deliver to Carewell clinic, Freeway motors building.
- Letters of interest will be received on an ongoing basis, but to be included in the initial training for VCA, letters must be received by Friday 11th February, not later than 12:30pm.
- Letters should specify which village the individual is coming from.
- A stipend will be provided to selected volunteers during active months to cover costs.
