Village Field Agents (x34)

Sentebale is a foundation working in Lesotho to support some of the most vulnerable children and young people to lead healthy and productive lives. Sentebale will be implementing the Regeneration of Landscapes and Livelihood Project.

We hereby invite suitably qualified and competent Basotho to apply for the vacant positions of Village Change Agents in four (4) of the six (6) implementing districts: Butha-Buthe, Berea, Leribe, and Thaba-Tseka.

Sentebale encourages interested and qualified youth from these districts to apply for the open vacancies in their respective districts. Applicants are requested to indicate their communities in their applications.

The target districts and their communities are shown in Table 1 below.

Job Purpose

The Village Agent is responsible for facilitating village/community-level activities, fostering relationships with key stakeholders, individuals, and groups, ensuring effective reporting, and contributing to monitoring and evaluation efforts.


Duties and Responsibilities

Under the direct supervision of the Sub-Catchment Facilitator, the Village Agent shall be responsible for the following:

  • Facilitate Social Behavior Change Engagement sessions with individual members of the community and Interest Groups (IGs).
  • Support village-level IGs to draft and develop constitutions.
  • Facilitate conversations/feedback between Regeneration Coalitions (RCs) and Interest Groups.
  • Support the envisioning process for IGs.
  • Facilitate participatory community appraisal.
  • Facilitate capacity assessment for IGs, RCs, and their landscapes of interest to inform graduation.
  • Develop prioritized capacity development plans for IGs and RCs.
  • Support the development of RCs’ terms of reference.
  • Liaise with community leaders.
  • Collect data and report on the progress made by IGs, RCs, and landscapes.

Attributes

  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively interact with diverse stakeholders.
  • Fluency in Sesotho and local languages (both written and spoken) is required.
  • Be from the target villages and/or priority communities.
  • Be willing and able to travel within allocated villages.
  • Be a person of good community repute.
  • Have experience working with communities (community work).
  • Possess facilitation skills.
  • Minimum qualification of Junior Certificate (JC).
