Position Title: Videographer / Video Editor

Reports to: Communications Manager Location: Maseru, Lesotho

Position Overview

The Videographer / Video Editor is responsible for capturing and editing videos for internal and external purposes. As video has become one of the most effective way of communicating PIH’s brand, messaging, and stories on online platforms, such as PIH.org, social media, and email, the Videographer / Video Editor will play a critical role as a member of the global creative team. The Videographer / Video Editor will manage multiple projects at a time, collaborating with global Marketing and Communications colleagues, ranging from high-quality complex video productions to fast turn-around social media projects.

Additionally, the Videographer / Video Editor will have the ability to lead or assist in video and photo capture on location, domestic and internationally as required. Additionally, the videographer will create a regular flow of still photography for PIH Lesotho.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the creating and editing the full range of video and photo projects, across digital platforms.
  • Work closely with the creative team members to ensure timely and high-quality deliverables.
  • Receive briefs, collaborate on pre-production, such as video storylines, shot lists, scripts, and treatments.
  • Assemble, organize, and back-up video assets in cloud-based archive and maintain clear logging process to easily share video projects with global multimedia colleagues.
  • Create graphic treatment elements such as transitions, lower thirds, and motion graphics.
  • Create ‘rough cuts’ (or assembly edit) of the project and present them to internal stakeholders.
  • Work with the Production Manager and other editor(s) to ensure the quality and progress of audio and video engineering and editing.
  • Work with the Director of Creative Services to advance video production styles and techniques including the graphic design, motion design, and animation elements.
  • Work to obtain translations, transcriptions, and produce subtitles in multiple languages.
  • Ensure that proper consent has been requested, confirmed, and recorded according to PIH policies.
  • Suggest or select music tracks and sound design from commercial archives or work directly with hired composers.
  • Ensure consistency of brand, messaging, and contribute to the growing library of templates and guidelines for global creative collaboration.

  • Record detailed caption information for all materials created. Embed metadata into raw media for search ability in the archive.
  • Assemble, organize, and backup all raw footage and photos; ingest necessary footage into DMS and train colleagues on the system as needed.

Minimum Requirements

  • BA/BS in Communications, Journalism, Film or equivalent in experience and education
  • Four or more years of experience in storytelling via videography
  • Experience with advanced multimedia storytelling techniques on multiple platforms
  • Pre-visualize and/or storyboard shot ideas based on scripts or project outlines.
  • Competency in videography principles from scripting through final editing and show proficiency with branding guidelines using Adobe Creative Cloud and video motion software such as Premiere Pro, Motion, and/or After Effects, and Davinci in an Apple Mac environment.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule and travel, as needed, with the potential of some weekend work at times.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects of varying complexities and find ways to consistently meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work with clients directly in edit sessions to assess needs and meet project requirements.
