Buhle Farmers’ Academy is a Farmer Development Institution that has been growing since the year 2000. Its mission is to enable new and emerging farmers to establish themselves in viable farming businesses through effective skills training and support in order to alleviate poverty and promote sustainable economic development and resources use in South Africa
These position suits individuals with an interest in developing commercial farmers. Buhle Farmers’ Academy seeks an officer at the Delmas Campus. As part of training agricultural entrepreneurs, the training officer has the duty of managing the learning and professional development by continually assessing and meeting the needs of students in the classroom and practically on the field.
As a place of learning, BFA promotes an open knowledge-sharing environment that builds knowledge, skills and service for the benefit of the organisation as a whole.
Responsibilities:
Identify training needs and facilitate the training of student farmers
Develop curriculum and training material
Train in entrepreneurial modules
Assessment, moderation and evaluation of student farmers
Conduct training from preparation, execution and assessments delivered through lectures and field practical’s
Provide training outside of Buhle as required.
Qualifications:
A diploma or degree in agriculture
2 years of training experience
AgriSETA Accredited Assessor and Moderator
Computer literate, include PowerPoint
A valid driver’s license
Requirement:
A pro-active and motivated facilitator for optimum skills transfer
Report writing and data management
Experience in enterprise planning and budgets
Practical farm work – manage vegetable production on campus
Planning and organisational skills
Excellent communication and writing skills
Good people skills
Able to manage projects from inception to completion
Be orderly and trustworthy
Tractor driving
