VACANCY IN THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE LESOTHO HIGHLANDS
DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY (LHDA)

Applications are invited from suitably qualified Lesotho or South African nationals to serve on the Board of Directors of the Lesotho Highlands Development Authority (LHDA) in the portfolio of Project Management. The LHDA is tasked with the implementation, operation and maintenance
of the Lesotho Highlands Water Project within Lesotho. The Lesotho Highlands Water Project is a joint project of the Government of the Kingdom of Lesotho and the Government of the Republic of South Africa aimed at harnessing the water resources of the highlands of Lesotho for the benefit of both countries.

Members of the Board of Directors must be fluent in English and are required to have competence in analytical, communication, teamwork and management/leadership skills as well as some knowledge of the operating environment of the LHDA or of similar organizations.

Members of the Board may be required to participate in sub-committees, undertake special investigations and provide expert advice in areas of their disciplines and experience.

Remuneration of Members of the Board is market related and covers preparation and attendance at Board Meetings, sub-committee work and ad-hoc work such as special delegated tasks or investigations. Members of the Board are fully reimbursed for authorised expenditure incurred in
the performance of their duties. Typical expenses include travel, accommodation, telephone, secretarial and courier services.

Specific requirements for the portfolio of Project Management are:

Project Management

The Project Management portfolio deals mainly with the implementation of Phase II of the Lesotho Highlands Water Project. The emphasis of the portfolio will be on the successful design and construction of Phase II within budget. The individual will head the multi-disciplinary subcommittee made up of civil and electrical engineers, environmental and social experts as well as experts in the fields of contract law, finance and project management of large multi-billion civil engineering projects. The holder of the portfolio must have ten (10) years post-qualification experience in his/her field of expertise.

Applicants with any interest that might compromise the performance of duties in the LHDA Board, have to declare the interest in their application letters. This includes having a conflict of interest by being either a partner, shareholder, director, employee or family member of LHDA’s service
provider.
