Overview:

Baylor College of Medicine Children’s Foundation – Lesotho. The Baylor College of Medicine Children’s Foundation – Lesotho (BCMCFL), is the result of a public-private partnership between Baylor College of Medicine International Pediatric AIDS Initiative and the Government of Lesotho, and is a legal, non-profit/tax exempt organization registered in Lesotho. BCMCFL provides free pediatric and family-centred HIV and tuberculosis prevention, care, treatment, and support, serving thousands of children and families affected by HIV, TB, or other child health conditions. Karabo ea Bophelo (KB) is a five-year USAID-funded activity to prevent new HIV infections and reduce vulnerability among orphans and vulnerable children (OVC) and adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) in Lesotho.

BCMCFL is looking for highly qualified local candidates to fill in the following positions available under Karabo Ea Bophelo Project on a full-time, Fixed-Term Contract basis.

VAC-GBV Linkage Navigator x 15

Duties and Responsibilities

Position Overview:

Reporting to the VAC-GBV Technical specialist, the VAC-GBV Linkage Navigator shall follow up VAC and GBV cases at different service providers and verify that they have reached their referral point.  S/he will liaise with the VAC-GBV Technical specialist, beneficiaries, and referral partners to ensure that all current cases are addressed and closed.

Key Performance Areas:

Key performance areas include, but are not limited to the following:

  • VAC-GBV Linkage Navigator shall refer and link OVC and DREAMS beneficiaries who have experienced VAC and GBV to relevant post care service providers
  • Follow up VAC and GBV cases at different service providers and report to VAC-GBV Technical specialist
  • Serve and file legal process of GBV and VAC to the necessary service providers, law firms and courts of law after the VAC-GBV technical specialist has drafted and endorsed the said process
  • Mobilize clients who need to be consulted by the VAC-GBV technical specialist.
  • VAC-GBV Linkage Navigator shall be a member of a District Child Protection Team and Community Council Child Protection Team (CCCPT) in his or her respective council
  • Build valuable and sustainable rapport with VAC-GBV legal response stakeholders within the district
  • Ensure submission of weekly reports, monthly reports, and timesheets to VAC-GBV Technical specialist at the end of every week and every month

Educational Qualifications, Work Experience and Key Competencies

COSC with strong work experience in VAC-GBV legal response services (Strongly preferred).

Experience in VAC-GBV messaging and post violence management processes.

Key Competencies and Skills

  • Demonstrated experience in implementing PEPFAR community-based HIV prevention programs
  • Experience in social marketing and data capturing for community project.
  • Proven ability to work both independently and as an effective team member
  • Demonstrated high proficiency in English and Sesotho (reading and speaking)
  • Attention to detail and knowledge of VAC-GBV legal processes
  • Strong knowledge proficiency on HIV Prevention and VAC-GBV topics is desirable
  • Proven ability to prioritize and handle multiple on-going assignments
  • Excellent time management
