The Spanish Ministry of Defence and the Generalitat Valenciana are generously covering the training venue, board, and accommodation for the duration of the course. Participants and/or their organizations should take care of travel, including any visa requirements and applicable allowances.
The event is led by OCHA’s Civil-Military Coordination Service (CMCS) in partnership with the International University Centre for Peace Missions, Helsinki España. It will bring together 20 participants from four interdependent emergency communities: a) OCHA and UN agencies; b) surge staff from Stand-by Partners, UNDAC and INSARAG; c) United Nations Member States, including domestic and international militaries; and d) non-governmental humanitarian organizations. We encourage mid-level managers to apply.
The objective of the training course is to: a) define the concept of humanitarian civil-military coordination (UN-CMCoord), including the five sets of UN-CMCoord guidance, b) assess the UN-CMCoord environment in operational contexts, and c) play a key role in supporting UN-CMCoord as it relates to humanitarian access and protection outcomes.
