Applications are invited from suitably qualified local candidates for the following vacant positions tenable at the Judiciary:

DEPARTMENT: Judicial Commissioner’s Court

JOB TITLE: Typist

RESPONSIBLE TO: Clerk of Court


JOB SUMMARY

Under close supervision of the Clerk of Court, the incumbent is responsible for typing case records from Central and Local Courts sent for appeal, judgments, reports and any other official correspondence.


MAIN DUTIES

1.0 Typing Production

1.1 Types handwritten case records for cases sent for appeal
1.2 Types judgments as directed by Judicial Commissioners
1.3 Types classified and unclassified mail
1.4 Reviews drafts to ensure correctness of typed documents
1.5 Photocopies/duplicates documents as assigned
1.6 Submits copies of typed case records to Clerk of Court
1.7 Safeguards typed case records and judgments on the computer


2.0 KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

Minimum Requirements:

  • COSC or LGCSE with passes in English and Sesotho Languages
  • Typing speed of 40 wpm
  • Certificate in word-processing and Windows applications (may be an added advantage)

2.1 Other necessary skills/competencies:

  • Computer literacy is a prerequisite for this position
  • Ability to read and write English and Sesotho
