Applications are invited from suitably qualified local candidates for the following positions:

JOB TITLE: TV Production Editor II

GRADE: E

RESPONSIBLE TO: TV PRODUCTION EDITOR I

DEPARTMENT: BROADCASTING – LTV

NO. OF POSITIONS: 5

JOB SUMMARY

Under the supervision of TV Production Editor I, the incumbent assists on post-production projects for television or film, edits programmes and news including reviewing raw footage, logging each shot into the database for easy access, compiles requested footage, prepares the editing equipment and software, and loads up the videos before editing begins.

MAIN DUTIES

  1. Edits short-form video content (programme logos and promos) in a variety of styles daily.
  2. Ingests, formats, and syncs incoming raw footage.
  3. Creates video assets for social platforms.
  4. Creates title graphics and thumbnails.
  5. Manages media of all footage and files.
  6. Participates in news meetings and story ideation brainstorm sessions.
  7. Coordinates post-production, including preparing graphics and publishing video stories.
  8. Creates and logs project files.
  9. Inserts subtitles and syncs audio files.

REPRESENTATIONAL DUTIES

  1. Liaises with media houses, international organizations, and TV stations.
  2. 2. Attends workshops and conferences on matters relating to production operations.

SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • A strong understanding of television production workflow.
  • An innovative thinker and creative problem solver.
  • A team player with great ideas to share and develop, an artistic mindset and IT skills.
  • Ability to take direction, work independently and maintain focus on goals.

EDUCATION

  • Diploma in Broadcasting – Radio and Television TV and Film Production plus two years of relevant work experience. OR
  • Diploma in Computers Systems Engineering/ Computer Science or equivalent plus two years of television work experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES

For Work of Others

The job requires the incumbent to maintain smooth working relations with editors, news producers, programme producers and librarians.

For Property (Equipment, Materials and Finance)

The job places on the incumbent responsibility to ensure the security and safety of the studio equipment, computers, and recorded material in his or her custody.

For Effect of Errors

The incumbent is responsible for the errors committed by junior staff in the execution of their duties such as failure to observe safety and operational procedures, which could result in loss of property, equipment, data and software or failure to render the service.

For the Safety of Others

The job places on the incumbent responsibility to enforce and ensure that proper safety and operational procedures are followed to ensure safety of personnel working under him/her.

COMPLEXITY

The incumbent has the authority to use their own creativity to enhance the structure of the programmes.

PROBLEM-SOLVING

The incumbent regularly solves problems involving video content.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED

The incumbent is expected to work independently under minimum supervision by the TV Production Editor I, Sub-Editor and content editor.
