JOB TITLE: TV Production Editor II

GRADE: E

RESPONSIBLE TO: TV Production Editor I


Job Summary

Under the supervision of TV Production Editor I, the incumbent assists on post-production projects for television or film, editing programmes and news including reviewing raw footage, logging each shot into the database for easy access, compiling requested footage, preparing the editing equipment and software, and loading up the videos before editing begins.


Main Duties

  • Edit short-form video content (programme logos and promos) in a variety of styles on a daily basis
  • Assist Sub-Editors with ingesting, formatting, and syncing of incoming raw footage – basic edit prep
  • Help create video assets for social platforms
  • Create title graphics and thumbnails as necessary
  • Manage media of all footage and files
  • Participate in news meetings and story ideation brainstorm sessions
  • Coordinate post-production, including preparing graphics and publishing video stories
  • Create and log project files
  • Insert subtitles and sync audio files

Representational Duties

  • Liaising with media houses, international organizations, and TV stations
  • Attending workshops and conferences on matters relating to production operations

Education

  • Diploma in Broadcasting – Radio, Television and Film Production; relevant experience will be an added advantage
  • Diploma in Computer Systems Engineering; relevant experience working with television systems will be an added advantage

Responsibilities

  • Maintain smooth working relations with editors, news producers, programme producers, and librarians

For Property (Equipment, Materials, and Finance)

  • Ensure security and safety of studio equipment, computers, and recorded material in custody

For Effect of Errors

  • Responsible for errors committed by junior staff in execution of duties such as failure to observe safety and operational procedures, which could result in loss of property, equipment, data, software, or failure to render service

For Safety of Others

  • Enforce and ensure proper safety and operational procedures are followed to ensure safety of personnel

Complexity

  • Authority to use own creativity to enhance the structure of programmes

Problem Solving

  • Regularly solves problems involving video content

Supervision Received

  • Expected to work independently under minimum supervision by the Production Editor I, Sub-Editor, and Content Editor

Dexterity

  • Requires good eyesight, listening skills, and mental capability to identify quality of video clips
  • Requires artistic resourcefulness

Contacts

  • Production Manager during briefing sessions, reporting meetings, and for guidance
  • News personnel, programme personnel, and engineering staff daily
  • Other utility organizations to discuss issues of mutual interest
  • Production Director during briefing sessions for news and programme production
