KKM JV, a joint venture comprising Yellow River Co. Ltd., Sinohydro Bureau 3 Co. Ltd., and Unik Civil Engineering Pty Ltd, is the appointed contractor for the Construction of the Polihali Transfer Tunnel—a critical component of the Lesotho Highlands Water Project – Phase II. This project facilitates water transfer via the Katse Reservoir, through the Transfer Tunnel and Delivery Tunnel, to the Ash River Outfall in South Africa, ultimately reaching the Vaal Dam in Gauteng.
Tunnel Superintendent
Number of Positions: 4
Qualification: Certificate in Tunnel Engineering; Fluent in English
Experience: Minimum of 20 years’ experience with TBM tunnel construction, including 15 years as Tunnel Superintendent
Added Advantage: Experience with precast concrete segmental tunnel lining (see note below)
Note
- The TBM used for tunneling has an excavation diameter of 5.35–5.38 m and installs 4.5 m inner-diameter segmental linings.
- The PCTL is installed ring by ring, with each ring consisting of four standard segments and two wedge segments (1.5 m wide, concrete grade C60), forming a tunnel lining of 4.5 m inner diameter.
