TB ELIMINATION PROJECT – MOHALE’S HOEK DISTRICT
Partners In Health (PIH) Lesotho is launching a TB elimination project in Mohale’s Hoek district to accompany the Ministry of Health in TB elimination efforts. To eliminate TB, it is important to have a strong and robust active TB case finding at the health facilities and community levels.
Under the TB Elimination project, PIH Lesotho will strengthen TB search, treat and prevent approaches to improve TB case findings and ultimately eliminate TB. PIH Lesotho is therefore seeking suitably qualified and competent candidates to fill the following positions.
TUBERCULOSIS (TB) PROGRAM ASSISTANT
Job Title: Tuberculosis (TB) Program Assistant

Location: Ntse’khe Hospital
Position Overview
Effective tuberculosis screening is a key step in case identification and putting patients on effective tuberculosis medication. Early identification and timely TB case notification can be ensured through effective TB screening at all entry points at health facilities and community levels. The TB Program Assistant will work to improve tuberculosis screening, diagnosis, and treatment outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Make sure that all suspected TB patients get a timely diagnosis and treatment decisions
- Work to improve TB detection with all key staff at Ntse’khe Hospital
- Ensure that all presumptive CAD TB cases are appropriately managed before patients leave the health facility
- Work with TB screeners to identify and screen all patients
- Communicate daily on follow-up of presumptive cases with the nurse in charge, TB screener, laboratory personnel, TB focal person, and radiographer
- Ensure that all TB-diagnosed patients are initiated on treatment and presumptive cases are tested and managed appropriately
- Provide clear and understandable messages to clients during TB screening
- Ensure proper screening, testing, and follow-up of TB contacts
- Ensure availability of TB screening, suspect, and treatment registers
- Ensure follow-up of presumptive TB patients initiated on antibiotics after completion of treatment
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Ntse’khe Hospital Medical Officer
- Any other duties as assigned, including working at health facilities
Minimum Qualification
- Professional qualification as a Trained Nurse Assistant
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in a clinical setting
- TB work experience is an added advantage
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Computer literacy, including Microsoft Word and basic data entry
- Current registration and updated license with the Lesotho Nursing Council
