TB ELIMINATION PROJECT – MOHALE’S HOEK DISTRICT
Partners In Health (PIH) Lesotho is launching a TB elimination project in Mohale’s Hoek district to accompany the Ministry of Health in TB elimination efforts. To eliminate TB, it is important to have a strong and robust active TB case finding at the health facilities and community levels.
Under the TB Elimination project, PIH Lesotho will strengthen TB search, treat and prevent approaches to improve TB case findings and ultimately eliminate TB. PIH Lesotho is therefore seeking suitably qualified and competent candidates to fill the following positions.
TUBERCULOSIS (TB) NURSE
Job Title: Tuberculosis (TB) Nurse
Number of Positions: 1
Location: Ntse’khe Hospital
Position Overview
The TB Nurse will work closely with the TB Program Assistant and Medical Officer in the care and management of TB patients at Ntse’khe Hospital.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure timely TB screening, diagnosis, and treatment decisions for all patients
- Maintain accurate patient information and records for follow-up
- Communicate with the Medical Officer on patient management
- Engage communities through village health workers to increase TB screening uptake
- Ensure linkage of TB-diagnosed patients during outreach and contact tracing
- Ensure all patients are screened, tested, and TB-positive patients initiated on treatment
- Monitor and follow up patients on TB treatment
- Monitor and manage patients eligible for TB Preventive Therapy (TPT)
- Maintain up-to-date patient records including lab results and TPT records
- Ensure availability of TB cascade data in the TB Hunter system
- Ensure availability of TB screening and outreach supplies
- Perform any other duties assigned by the TB Elimination Medical Officer
Minimum Qualification
- Minimum Diploma in Nursing and Midwifery
- At least 3 years’ clinical experience, preferably in TB program implementation
- Willingness to work in remote and hard-to-reach areas
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Computer literacy including Microsoft Word and data entry
- Willingness to work for a social justice organization serving remote communities
- Current registration and updated license with the Lesotho Nursing Council
