SRI is seeking committed and passionate professionals to provide critical services to Reserve Component Service Members, Veterans and their Family Members.

Overview: SRI is seeking a Transition Assistance Advisor (TAA) for each state. This is a contract position contingent upon contract award. Transition Assistance Advisors (TAAs) perform outreach and provide information and assistance to Reserve Component service members, veterans and their families in understanding and obtaining benefits and services through Veterans Affairs and the Military Health System. TAAs coordinate with appropriate Veterans Affairs, TRICARE, Veteran Service Organizations, and other resources to provide required information and assistance; participate in the mobilization and demobilization process to brief/advise eligible beneficiaries and their families on available entitlements and information resources; researches and resolves issues associated with entitlements and provides information coordination, and assistance to transitioning service members.

Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • TAAs perform outreach and provide information, coordination, and assistance to transitioning reserve component service members in the following areas:
  • Relocation Assistance (Homelessness)
  • Education/Training Assistance
  • Physical and Mental Health & Wellbeing (VA Assistance)
  • Health and Life Insurance Assistance
  • Disabled Veteran’s Benefits
  • Service Member’s Civil Relief Act
  • Effects of a Career Change Assistance

  • Coordinates with appropriate Veterans Affairs, TRICARE, Veteran Service Organizations, and other resources to provide required information
  • Participates in the mobilization and demobilization process to brief/advise Guard members and their families on transition and information
  • Researches and resolves issues associated with transition when the service member and/or their family members encounter problems.
  • Facilitates medical care and benefits applications to ensure optimal transition from the military treatment facilities to the member’s local community.
  • Provides Joint Forces Headquarters (JFHQ) personnel with the operation of reintegration programs for Reserve Component members returning from deployment to assist with Veterans reintegration activities.
  • TAA provide information to JFHQ and coordinate with Family Support Specialists, Employer Support Groups, regarding entitlements, available Veterans Affairs and other Veterans entitlement and benefit programs.

Required Education, Experience, Skills & Abilities:

  • TAAs shall have, at a minimum, an associate’s degree or equivalent life/work experience in a related field such as veterans administration, social services, employment services, and human resources
  • A broad knowledge, experience, and skills in the areas of military personnel, and human resources, especially as they relate to balancing civilian life with military service
  • Verbal and Written Communication Skills
  • Must have current and valid driver license
  • Ability to travel by car and/or plane
  • Ability to Support Evening and Weekend Events as Needed
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a favorable background investigation report (NACI) for eligibility to hold a Common Access Card (CAC)

Preferred Knowledge and Experience:

  • Prior military experience is preferred but not required
  • Knowledge of Military Benefits and Entitlements preferred
