The key responsibilities as a Trainee Buyer will include:
Learning and involvement in the following:
- Post mortem, strategy and assortment reviews
- Interpreting KPI and trend requirements of the business into a product assortment
- Price negotiations
- Product briefing and sampling
- Competitor shopping
- Translating trend and historical data into product
- Interaction with support depts. E.g. design, marketing, visual and quality
- Supplier meetings and interactions
- General administrative requirements
- Progressing in line with training programme
The minimum requirements for this career opportunity are:
- Relevant degree or diploma (Interior/Fashion Design, Retail Business Management, Textile, Consumer Science)
- 1-2 years Supplier / Manufacturing / Buyer’s Assistant experience
- Knowledge of merchandise systems/ applications
- Basic Textile & Fabrication knowledge preferable
- Strong verbal and written communication including negotiation skills
- Computer literate in MS Office applications
- Creative inclination
- Able to work well under pressure
- Passionate about homeware product
- Driver’s license (advantageous)
