The month of May is globally marked as Mental Health Awareness month. All over the world, people raise awareness about the need for self-care as well as the eradication of stereotypes in the month of May. Lesotho is not an anomaly to the fact that there are people who live with and die from mental health disorders. This is why Selibeng is proud to announce the launch of #MindfulMay.

Throughout the month of May, Selibeng will actively participate in raising awareness about the importance of mental health. As such, throughout the entire month, anticipate a mental health challenge for you to carry out as part of your self-care routine.

You can also look forward to education about mental health as we explore different mental illnesses per week alongside their prevention and treatment. You can also look forward to mental health inspiration, which will come through different ways.

We would like to send an open invite to social workers, people who survived mental health disorders as well as anyone who deals with mental health issues to come forward for a feature on the Selibeng website. Your story will not only help you see how far you have come, but will also become an inspiration to people living with mental health problems.

We believe that this campaign for mental health is going to shed light on the importance of keeping one’s mental health intact. It is without a doubt that it will also eradicate the stigma around mental health in Lesotho.

To the survivors and patients of mental health disorders, we stand in solidarity with you, for YOU ARE NOT ALONE.

Happy Mindful May!
