Thembalitsha Foundation seeks to appoint a Bookkeeper to be based in Western Cape.
Report to: Senior Accountant
Working Hours: 8h00 to 12h30
Salary: R72,000 Per Annum
Duration: Two-month contract
Responsibilities:
- Maintain all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems and ensure compliance with appropriate accounting standards
- Conduct periodic reconciliations of all accounts to ensure their accuracy
- Conduct a monthly reconciliation
- Provide clerical and administrative support to various projects
- Record day to day financial transactions and complete the posting process
- Ensure that all relevant supporting documentation are in place for each transaction
- Verify that transactions are recorded in the correct accounts, suppliers’ ledger, customer ledger and general ledger
- Bring the books to the trial balance stage
- Perform checks of the posting process
- VAT calculation and completion of VAT return
- Enter data, maintain records and generate reports
- Process accounts receivable and payable
- Load bank payments
- Filling
- Assist in yearly audit
- Assist in Resolving day to day finance/accounting queries (internal and external)
Requirements:
- Proficient in SAP/Pastel
- Relevant bookkeeping/accounting qualification
- Minimum of three years’ experience within a bookkeeping role
- Computer literacy in Microsoft Office with Excel
- Experience in the nonprofit industry advantageous
- English and Afrikaans communication skills (verbal and written)
- Strong leadership and people management skills
- Strong analytical skills
- Ability to work under pressure
