Self care: the practice of taking action to preserve or improve one’s own health

Self love: love of self; regards for one’s own well-being and happiness

Affirm: state emphatically or publicly

Affirmation synonyms: assertion, declaration, proclamation, assurance, vow, promise, pledge, confirmation and endorsement.

It is often said that ships do not sink because of the water around them. They sink because of the water that is in them. Believe it or not, you are what you believe. So, if you’re sitting there wondering why your life is not going the way it “should” be, and nobody seems to love you, I suggest look within. Honestly, do you believe that you love yourself? Are you someone that you would love?

You may have, at some point in your life, allowed all the noise to infiltrate your defenses. The law of attraction explains that the universe creates and provides for you that which your thoughts are focused on. Like the saying goes; you ought to first love yourself in order for people to love you.

Treat yourself like someone you love. Take care of you first before you look to take care of others. You cannot pour from an empty cup. Therefore, you cannot give love when you don’t have love yourself. It’s that simple really.

Once you focus your thoughts and energy on creating that life you want, everything will gradually fall into place and you won’t know how. It’s the power of the law of attraction. Reciting affirmations to yourself every morning is by far the best way to believe that you too are magic. Affirmations fill you with hormones known as endorphins, and by reciting them every morning you actively reprogram your thinking from negative to positive.

It is proven that affirmations help to reprogram one’s mind. When one repeats an affirmation over and over, the subconscious picks up on it as the present reality. Does this mean that people have the ability to completely turn around their life as they know it?  In one word: yes.

You can co-create your world to your own specifications. You want a better relationship? Start telling yourself that you deserve it.  Once you have heard this for so long, your mind will not settle for anything else. You want a better job?  Learn to say affirmations about your passions and watch how many doors open in your direction.

We’re all just trying to live out the best versions of ourselves, with no GPS of how to go about this journey of ours. It may not always be that easy especially when it feels like the world’s burdens are on your shoulders. When you feel like your whole life is nothing but one huge streak of bad luck. Constantly pounding yourself with questions; “how is it that some people are so fortunate than I am?” “What am I not doing like all the rest?”

All you need to do is change your perspective. Stop dwelling on the negatives but instead embraces more the positives. Fill your cup with love and light. Because if you cannot count on yourself to become your own hero, who then can you count on? You ought to become your own best friend in order for the universe to magnify your light. Let love lead in order to heal. My two cents.
