The Fellowship gives legal professionals the opportunity to work within a government in low- and middle-income countries as a civil servant reporting to local managers. Because the demand for Oxford Policy Fellows is led by host governments – rather than being imposed by an outside agency – Fellows’ positions are tailored to the host government’s specific need and context, meaning they are more likely to make a real impact.
The Fellowship is an initiative of Oxford Policy Management and its major funding partner is the UK Government’s Department for International Development (UK DFID). It has also received funding from the New Venture Fund and a private donation.
Given the nature of its funding, the growth of the Fellowship in the fourth cohort is contingent on the level of funding secured. The size of the 2020-2022 cohort is therefore contingent on the amount of funding secured by the Fellowship.
Requirements:
The recruitment is open for applicants of all nationalities who are qualified lawyers. We are looking for applicants with excellent academic qualifications and depending on the specific post, a law degree, an LLM, a Master’s in Law, a Master’s in Public Policy, or a related field will be required.

| May-June | The governments select which applicant they wish to employ. |
| May-June | Successful applicants are offered a posting. |
| September | Orientation meeting is held. Fellows meet their managers. |
| October-November | Fellows start their postings. |
