The competition is open to anyone over the age of 16.
Short description

The competition is organized by The Moth, an international arts and literature magazine, based in Ireland.

The Moth Poetry Prize is one of the biggest prizes in the world for a single unpublished poem. The prize is open to anyone, as long as the poem is previously unpublished, and each year it attracts thousands of entries from new and established poets from over 50 countries worldwide.

You can write on any subject and there is no line limit.

Entries must be in English.

You can enter as as many poems as you like (at a cost of 15 € per poem).

Entries must be entirely the work of the entrant and must never have been published, self-published, published online or broadcast.

This year’s judge is Louise Glück. Louise Glück is an American poet and essayist. She won the 2020 Nobel Prize in Literature.


Entry fee
The entry fee is 15 € per poem.

• 1st prize: 6,000 €
• 3 runner-up prizes of €1,000
• 8 prizes of €250 for commended poems
