The LifeMatters Foundation understands the education crisis South Africa faces. They programmes serve to address many of the issues that schools are faced with, but are ill equipped to deal with. Join them in a movement to practically equip and empower the kids in their community to stay in school and become functional, contributing members of society.

LifeMatters seeks to appoint 2 School Counsellor(s) to be based in Cape town.

Employment Type: Part -Time, End Date: 30th November 2020 A probation period of 2 months applies

​Start Date: 01st February 2020 (Orientation)

Remuneration: R6200 gross per month over 10 months

Responsibilities:
Individual and Group Therapy with child clients
Parent Meetings
Staff Training and Debriefing
Attendance at LMF Staff Related Events and Functions
Attendance at required CPD training
Counselling Room Decor and Stock Check
Liaison with the Department of Social Development, Department of Education and other Statutory    Bodies where Welfare Referrals are required. Follow up and Accountability, once referrals have been made, is also essential.
Attendance at monthly Group Supervision
Attendance at monthly Individual Supervision
Agree to work within the legal and statutory framework provided by The LifeMatters Foundation
Required:
LMF is a Christian faith-based educational NPO.
Applicants would have to align themselves with the values and culture of the organisation.
A minimum of a 2-year social auxiliary or registered counsellors’ qualification
Registration with Professional Counsel (SACSSP or HPCSA)
A Valid Police Clearance Certificate upon application
Reliable Transport Source
2 Contactable References- 1 Professional and the other Personal
Necessary Skills:
English Proficiency- fluency in Afrikaans and/or isiXhosa is advantageous
Report Writing and Data Capturing and Basic Monitoring & Evaluation
Computer Literacy, Microsoft Proficiency
Extensive understanding of the Children’s Act and the application thereof
Advanced Assessment Skills

Need to be able to relate to people of all ages and social-economic backgrounds.

This is a part-time contract for 10 months divided as follows:
20 Hours a Week, spread over 4 days
Tuesday: 5 Hours | Wednesday: 5 Hours | Thursday: 5 Hours |Friday 5 Hours
15 Hours of Psycho-Social and Child Protection Support at the School Placement Site
5 Hours of Report Writing, Data Capturing, Supervision and Other Job-Related Administration at the Organisation’s Head Office
The counsellor works the school term ONLY, school holidays form part of employees leave package. Any additional leave would only be granted in exceptional circumstances by the LifeSkills Portfolio Manager.
