Who we are looking for:

A talented assessment item writer to work as part of a team of a multi-disciplinary learning design team, including psychometricians, to develop mobile-based learning experiences that users love. We are looking for an item writer for full-time, project-based contract work that is short-term with the potential for extensions. Get in on the ground floor as we build our founding learning design team!

You will:

  • Use a provided competency architecture to develop all assessment items and responses
  • Create knowledge-based assessment items
  • Create performance-based assessment items
  • Provide alternate items for all assessments
  • Provide rationales for incorrect and correct answer choices that have been validated
  • Perform other duties, as needed

You have:

  • Outstanding writing and editing skills
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher (relevant work experience may be substituted)
  • Working knowledge of Bloom’s taxonomy or Webb’s depth of knowledge
  • Intermediate-level skills in Google office products and a willingness to learn new technologies
  • Ability to work in a high feedback environment where everyone gives/takes feedback regularly
  • Ability to adhere to tight deadlines
  • Ability to work 40 hours a week
  • Flexible approach to work activities
  • A positive attitude and desire to work as part of a team
  • Comfortable with using effort tracking tools
  • Commitment to NextStep’s mission
