Job Purpose

  • To provide a consistently high quality frontline transactional service to customers encompassing of acceptance of deposits, the sales and purchasing of foreign currencies and the provision of change.
  • To understand the risks associated with the handling of cash and maintain effective controls to manage these risks

 

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities

  • Attends to withdrawals, deposits, change transactions etc., according to laid-down procedures as stipulated in Process Repository (PR).
  • Accepts cash deposits, according to laid-down procedures as stipulated in PR.
  • Ensures that all items cashed are within own assigned levels and limits and refers all transactions exceeding limits to the appropriate area for authorisation.
  • Ensures that items cashed are technically correct and signed, according to laid-down instructions as PR
  • Assists with the capturing of transactions, during peak periods.
  • Assists customer with all foreign currency purchases and sales promptly.
  • Ensures that all customers complete Balance of payments (BoP) forms accurately to ensure compliance with Central Bank of Lesotho requirements
  • Ensures that all laid-down policies and procedures regarding the handling, locking away and security of cash are adhered to.
  • Ensures that cash holdings are kept within prescribed limits at all times.
  • Balances cash daily and report any differences promptly
  • Identifies migration opportunities and lodge leads on the system for follow, reactively

 

Minimum Qualification and Experience

  • Degree in Accounting,  Information Systems Management, Data Science, Applied Mathematics, Statistics or equivalent
  • A good understanding of the entire Bank’s full range of products
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite
  • Experience in Self-Service Channels

 

Knowledge/Technical Skills/Expertise

  • Sound knowledge of the bank’s laid-down policies and procedures related to telling
  • Familiar with the legal aspects regarding cheques and cash handling
  • Knowledge of the Code of Banking Practice
  • Knowledge of teller service standards
  • Basic knowledge of the functions of other departments within the branch.
  • Understanding and support of the bank’s multi-channel environment.
  • Computer literate
  • Good numerical skills
  • Good communication
