About the role

We are looking for a Technician: Chemical to provide credible and timeous wet chemical analyses using instrumental techniques and titration methods towards ensuring accuracy and quality of deliveries.
Reporting to the Superintendent: Physical Laboratory working in a collaborative community within the Laboratory team, you will:
- Perform chemical and instrumental analyses on final products, raw materials and ad hoc development samples.
- Execute analytical maintenance and calibration of instruments.
- Monitor control samples and take appropriate corrective action to ensure compliance with set limits.
- Provide technical advice to Lab staff.
- Ensure shipments are certified within scheduled time.
- Availability of reagents, consumables and in-control instruments.
- Assist with training of new incumbents.
- Perform fair and reasonable tasks related to the job and working environment, at the discretion of the Superintendent.
- Issue certificates, compliance- and non-compliance reports.
- Capture, log and report analyses outcomes according to the Lab input system.
- Review SAM’s, SOP’s and risk assessments and issue change controls where necessary.
- Initiate and follow-up on job requests for unsafe conditions and instrument failures.
What you’ll bring
- A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
- Diploma in Analytical Chemistry or BSc Degree in Chemistry would be advantageous
- 2 – 3 years previous Chemical analysis experience
- In-depth knowledge of Chemical properties (Inorganic chemistry, analytical chemistry)
- ICP – Trace Elements Analysis exposure
- Extremely detail conscious, meticulous and the ability to work under time pressure.
- Have good communication and teamwork skills.
- Understand basic statistics
- Have a flair for chemistry and the interpretation of chemical results
- Have excellent ability to discriminate visual changes
