Job Purpose:
To support the Human Resources, Production and Maintenance Divisions through delivery, coordination, monitoring and planning of training programmes to ensure sound operations of machinery/equipment and prevent accidents.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic alignment
· Assist with strategic planning of training program and resources to support service objectives at organisational, business unit, team and individual level;
· Ensure that training plans are in line with the company’s operational strategy.
· Analyse skill gaps and performance improvement opportunities – branch, team, and individual level
· Identify training needs amongst individual operators and technical staff and plan training thereof accordingly;
· Organise, administrate and set up training programmes and events as required;
· Oversee the coordination and distribution of training-related material and facilities as required;
· Develop, deliver and evaluate appropriate and suitable training and awareness raising modules for operators and other technical staff;
· Deliver induction and orientation programmes, and identify and provide on-going training needs;
· Monitor operators and technical staff through training programmes to ensure that personal and company targets are met and accidents are prevented;
· Liaise with external training providers and educational institutions to identify appropriate external training solutions; and
· Research contemporary learning and development trends and provide recommendations on opportunities for MGC to provide world-best service and expertise
Reporting and compliance
· Maintain an up to date knowledge of the legislation and requirements surrounding the provision of training and certification;
· Provide ongoing reporting and analysis of training activities;
· Provide constructive feedback to participants and consult with department managers and team leaders to ensure that coaching and development provided is reinforced through ongoing performance management;
· Monitoring and reviewing the progress of trainees through on-line questionnaires, discussions with managers and support teams;
· Prepare monthly, weekly and daily training and awareness raising reports for submission to the Site Manager; and
· Maintain up to date electronic and paper-based records of all training delivered in personal files
Qualifications:
· Degree/Diploma in technical training
· Training of trainer’s Certificate – ETDP (Education, Training & Development Practices Cert)
· Be Registered with Mining/Construction SETA
· Be a Registered Assessor/Moderator
Experience:
At least 10 years relevant working experience
Knowledge:
· Sound knowledge of training principles and application thereof in different functional areas
· Sound knowledge of operation of earthmoving machinery
· Good knowledge of the Lesotho labour laws and application thereof
