VACANCY: TECHNICAL DIRECTOR
SM Consulting Engineers (SMCE), a leading Basotho-owned consulting engineering firm with over 30 years of service in roads, civil structures, and environmental management, invites applications for the position of Technical Director.
Position: Technical Director
The Technical Director will lead the firm’s technical operations, oversee quality assurance, and guide the implementation of ISO 9001–aligned Quality Management Systems. The role includes providing strategic technical leadership, supervising multidisciplinary engineering teams, and serving as Engineer or Project Team Leader on active projects where required.
Key Functions
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
- Leading technical staff and ensuring high-quality engineering outputs
- Overseeing design, project management, and supervision of road, civil, and structural works
- Developing and implementing the company’s Quality Management System (QMS)
- Mentoring engineering personnel and supporting professional development
- Participating in business development and client liaison
Requirements
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Degree in Civil Engineering; professional registration is advantageous
- 10–15 years of relevant consulting engineering experience
- Experience in road design, supervision, structural projects, and contract administration
- Demonstrated technical leadership experience
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 systems or similar QMS is an added advantage
- Strong mentoring and team management skills
Contract
The position is offered on a three-year renewable contract, subject to performance.
