Job Description Summary

The incumbent will facilitate Food Security and Economic Development activities at the Area Programme level through community, schools, churches, children and other partner’s capacity building, networking, partnership and participation in livelihood and resilience, Food Security and Economic Development planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation. Additionally, all WVIL staff observe mission and core values of World Vision and demonstrate a quality of spiritual life that is an example to others.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Carry out needs assessment and reviews in communities to determine development interventions that are required 
  • Implement audit recommendations, ensuring compliance with World Vision standards.
  • Coordinate the preparation of Livelihood and Resilience, Food Security and Economic Development projects plans and budgets within the Area Programmes.
  • Ensure availability of qualitative and quantitative Livelihood and Resilience, Food Security and Economic Development data and information for input into Horizon and CWBT report.
  • Build capacity of volunteers, communities, schools, church and government partners and other partners in livelihoods and resilience, food security and economic development issues.
  • Participate in children mapping (including RC and the most vulnerable) and monitoring processes in communities to ensure participation of children (including RC and the most vulnerable) and their families in Cluster activities.
  • Compile a multi-year plan for all activities across the Cluster, and produce an indicative multi-year budget
  • Participate to RC registering, monitoring and data processing for marketing.
  • Ensure implementation of Audit and Risk Assessment recommendations in Food Security and Economic Development projects and their impact areas within the Cluster.
  • Facilitate and report (monthly, quarterly, semi-annually and annually) on Livelihood and Resilience, Food Security and Economic Development activities, outputs and outcomes in Cluster communities.
  • Ensure representation of WV Cluster office at field or district events related to Food Security and Economic Development where World Vision is invited and report on them to the Cluster Manager

Required Professional Skills and Experience

The following may be acquired through a combination of formal or self-education, prior experience or on-the-job training

  • BA /BSC Degree in Agriculture & related degrees such as Extension, Agricultural Economics, Animal Science, Crop Science, Social Science or other related field.
  • 3 years experience in development facilitation.         

Other Competencies

  • Development facilitation skills
  • Monitoring, reporting and proposal writing skills
  • Must be a committed Christian, able to stand above denominational diversities.
  • Attend and participate/lead in daily devotions and weekly Chapel services.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Working Environment / Conditions

Office-based with frequent travel to the field
Travel:  10% Domestic/international travel is required.
On call:  5%
