 JOB  TITLE :    TECHNICAL  ASSISTANT  (PLUMBING)

RESPONSIBLE  TO :  TECHNICAL  OFFICER

Purpose  of  the  job

To  carry  out  maintenance  and  repair  works  of  sanitations,  flashings,  sheet  metal,  geysers, leakages,  blockages,  gutters  and  down-pipes,  brazing,  fire  sprinklers  and  piping  etc.

Main  Duties:

1.            To  carry  out  maintenance  and  repair  works  of  sanitations,  flashings,  sheet  metal, geysers,  leakages,  blockages,  gutters  and  down-pipes,  brazing,  fire  sprinklers  and  piping  etc.

1.1.       Carries  out  inspections  on  the  assigned  grid  quarterly  and  prepares  report

1.2.        Assesses  complaint

1.3.    Collects  and  prepares  material  for  maintenance

1.4.     Maintains/repairs.

1.5.        Paints  repaired  works.

2.            Prepare  monthly  reports  on  work  done

2.1.        Collect  data  on  the  job  done  and  compile  a  report

3.            Prepares  work  plans

3.1.        Analyses  the  department’s  operational  plan  to  identify  relevant objectives

3.2.        Develops  work  plan

JOB  SPECIFICATIONS

EDUCATION  AND  TRAINING

Certificate  in  Plumbing  and  Sheet  Metal  Work

OR

Trade  test  C  and  3  years  relevant  working  experience.

COMPETENCIES:

Ability  to  read  plans,  drawing,  technical  manual  and  material  specifications Computer  literacy

Ability  to  work  as  a  team Must  be  Safety  conscious

Be  prepared  to  work  beyond  normal  working  hours Ability  to  communicate  orally  and  in  writing, Ability  to  work  without  close  supervision

RESPONSIBILITY

For  work  of  others;  this  factor  is  minimal. For  property;  this  factor  is  minimal.

For  effect  of  errors;  the  incumbent  is  responsible  for  errors  that  may  be  committed  when capturing  complaint  and  delays  in  informing  action  officers.

For  Safety  of  others;  this  factor  is  not  applicable  to  this  job.

COMPLEXITY

Authority  for  decision  making:  The  incumbent  is  responsible  for  screening  complaints  to determine  which  ones  need  immediate  attention.

Problem  solving:  This  factor  is  considered  minimal  to  this  job.

Supervision  received:  The  incumbent  is  expected  to  work  independently  and  report complaints  timeously  to  the  action  officer.

Dexterity:  This  factor  is  minimal.
