Technical Agronomist / Soil Specialist
We are seeking an experienced Technical Agronomist / Soil Specialist to support crop production, field trials, farmer training, and the introduction of innovative biological agricultural products in Lesotho.
The successful candidate will advise on crop planning, soil health, plant nutrition, fertigation, pest and disease management, and climate-smart production practices.
Minimum Requirements
- BSc or Diploma in Agronomy, Plant Science, Soil Science, Horticulture, or a related agricultural field.
- Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in crop production, soil management, agricultural research, field support, or technical sales.
- Strong understanding of crop, soil, and farming conditions in Lesotho or Southern Africa.
- Experience in soil sampling, soil analysis, fertilisation, and soil-health improvement.
- Valid Code 08/EB driver’s licence and willingness to travel frequently.
- Excellent communication, farmer-engagement, and relationship-building skills.
- Knowledge of sustainable agriculture, regenerative farming, and climate-smart production practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct field visits and identify pests, diseases, nutrient deficiencies, and soil-related production constraints.
- Interpret soil and plant-tissue analyses and provide practical soil-fertility and crop-nutrition recommendations.
- Support field trials, demonstrations, and product-performance monitoring.
- Maintain accurate crop, soil, trial, and field-performance records.
- Build relationships with farmers and promote Terra Nala agricultural products.
Location
The position will be based in Maseru or Maputsoe and will require regular travel throughout Lesotho’s districts.
