Objectives of the Position:

Mercedes-Benz Financial Services is looking for a Legal Late Stage Team Manager to co-ordinate, monitor, manage and report on the Mercedes-Benz Financial Services Late Stage delinquency portfolio for Passenger and Commercial Vehicles on both live, terminated and matured portfolios within prescribed policies and procedures in order to reduce the delinquency rate, minimizing credit losses though swift and efficient repossessions and collection of written-off debt in support of agreed targets. The incumbent will ensure a high focus on brand, customer, dealer and external service providers and stakeholders relationship management by ensuring effective and efficient communication, prior to and during litigation procedures in relation to all legal portfolios within prescribed timelines and in compliance to the Company’s Integrity Codes.

Main Tasks:

  • Manage the departmental employees to achieve organizational goals, training and development of employees in relation to performance objectives to ensure a highly motivated, energized and trusting environment in support of a Great Place to Work.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with relevant stakeholders, i.e. Customers, External Service Providers, Attorneys, MBSA employees, MBFS employees, MBFS Management Team.

  • Co-ordinate, monitor, manage and report on the Late Stage delinquency portfolio performance for Passenger and Commercial Vehicles on the live, terminated and matured portfolio within prescribed policies and procedures in order to reduce the delinquency rate and minimizing credit losses in support of agreed targets.

  • Co-ordinate, monitor, manage and report on the Repossession, Deceased, Insurance, Inventory, Debt Review, Restructure and Recovery process for Passenger and Commercial Vehicles in relation to customer contact and all administrative functions required within prescribed policies and procedures in order to ensure and efficient and timely curing or termination and write off process.

  • Operational and strategic management of the MBFS late stage delinquent portfolios in relation to the requirements, process and performance targets of the outsourced portfolios to external service providers.

  • Support on projects as an expert / core member for Collection and Legal related activities, drive outcomes, provide guidance on the management of major company projects, including planning and execution.

  • Support the procurement process for on-boarding and renewal of External Service Providers for the department’s collection and legal related activities.

Experience:

  • 3 to 5 years work experience in a Financial Services Industry / Banking / Insurance environment.

  • Experience in financial legal environment with a specific focus on the National Credit Act, Financial Advisory and Intermediary Services Act, Short-Term Insurance Act, Consumer Protection Act, Protection of Personal Information Act and Financial Intelligence Centre Act.

  • NCA / FICA / FAIS would be advantageous.
