Project Overview

The Market Driven Irrigated Horticulture Project (MDIH) aims to establish a sustainable and inclusive model of irrigation, water resources, and land management in Lesotho.

About the Role:

The Team Leader shall provide strategic direction and overall management of the Consultant team with the overall responsibility of ensuring that all works designed and constructed for the Market Driven Irrigated Horticulture Project (MDIH) are coordinated, and its activities are sequenced appropriately. The Team Leader shall be based in Maseru full-time for the base period and part-time during the option periods.

Key Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • University degree in water and/or construction and/or agriculture engineering field, administration, or a related field.
  • Fluent in the English language (B2 level or higher of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, CEFR, Table 1).

General Professional Experience:

  • 20 or more years of overall experience and 15 years of relevant international design experience in water resources/irrigation sector projects of similar scope, size, and complexity.
  • Experience working in sub-Saharan Africa would be an added advantage.

Specific Professional Experience:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience managing multi-disciplinary technical teams or managing at least one project with a value of over 30 million USD and containing multiple project components.
  • Demonstrated experience and skills on a minimum of two projects in planning, monitoring, and reporting in multiple project environments and the context of a donor-funded development project.
  • Specific experience in the delivery of at least one design-build project using the FIDIC Yellow Book.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
  • You will have an agile and “Can Do” mindset.
