Job Purpose:
The oversight and successful leadership towards the completion of the Lesotho Lowlands Water Development Project (Phase III).
Operating Environment:
The Team Leader is expected to be in-country (Lesotho) for the entire duration of the project implementation.
Communication & Working Relationships:
The Team Leader is expected to lead the Consultant’s site team and report back to the Head Office International Projects team.
Qualifications and Skills
- Must hold a foundation degree in Civil Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
- Post-graduate qualification in Project Management; or Engineering Management; or Construction Management; or equivalent relevant qualification will be an added advantage
- Experience in Programme, Contracts and Construction Management
- Good command of written and spoken English
General Professional Experience:
- Minimum of 15 years of professional experience required
- Minimum 10 years of international experience
- Minimum of 10 years required of experience with managing the implementation of major water and/or sanitation programs.
- Minimum of senior role on 2 similarly complex water implementation programs. Complex means that each project should include water or wastewater treatment and/or transmission and/or distribution for a city (or cumulative if several cities) above 150,000 people. The project value should be above USD 60 Million. The Consultant should also have experience in managing projects financed by international institutions e.g. World Bank, KBOSA AfDB, or UN Agencies, etc.
Specific Professional Experience:
- Experience as Team Leader on Internationally Funded technical assistance projects (minimum 2 projects)
- Experience in setting up and implementing programme management tools (minimum 2 programmes/projects)
- Experience in the sub-Saharan Africa water sector
- Excellent Communicator
- Good listening skills
- Demonstrated ability to function as a team player in a dynamic project environment – this will be key in interactions with the Client).
