Teaching Assistant: Data Analytics

We are seeking Data Analytics Teaching Assistants to join the Pathstream instructional team. Teaching Assistants will support students by providing expert written and in-person guidance to grow students’ in-demand skills.

Our programs are built by educators, engineers, designers, and doers who care about democratizing access to best-in-class learning. Our curriculum is delivered by a team of instructors, teaching assistants, project evaluators, and coaches who provide high-quality student support and a personalized learning experience.
Pathstream students are diverse and range from laid off workers looking to find a career, to full-time professionals that need to upskill or re-skill to stay relevant in today’s changing job market. As a Teaching Assistant (TA), you will directly support the learning and growth of these hard working individuals as they gain new skills to support themselves and their families. Successful TAs are committed to student success, passionate about the power of learning, and are excited to make a difference for students by providing one-on-one support. They believe that learning is emotional and empathize with students, and meet them where they’re at on their learning journey. Note that Pathstream’s curriculum is asynchronous, so the Teaching Assistant role does not include required lectures, or curriculum development, however, optional in-person office hours are offered to students.
This is a flexible, contract position that you can do from anywhere in the world. Teaching Assistants can choose to commit anywhere from 10-30 hours per week. We ask that you commit to a minimum of 6 months so that we can ensure a consistent student experience (see Position Details & Logistics below).
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Compose thoughtful and supportive emails to students in response to content-specific questions and/or course concerns. Serve as their pain point person in the program to support them along their learning journey.
- Host weekly office hours appointments using Zoom to answer student questions and encourage them on their learning journey.
- Gain expertise in Pathstream curriculum and policies to be able to support students.
- Assess student project submissions against a rubric to determine an overall score.
- Provide feedback to the instructional team to improve curriculum and projects.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Expertise in Data Analytics:
- 2+ years of industry experience in the relevant subject area OR
- 1-2+ years teaching experience in the subject area or in a related subject area
- Familiarity with the topics, skills, and technical tools in the course: Tableau, Spreadsheets, SQL, Python (basics)

POSITION DETAILS & LOGISTICS
- Type: Freelance/Contract (1099)
- Location: Remote
- Compensation: $35 per hour, with the opportunity to increase over time
- Equipment Needed: Computer with internet access (fast enough for video calls)
- Commitment: 10-30 hours per week. Programs range from 12 to 15 weeks in length. We ask that you commit to a relatively consistent number of hours every week for the duration of a program (~6 months).
- Flexibility: This position can be done from anywhere in the world. You will be required to be available for set times each week to host office hours, but responding to student emails and project evaluation can be scheduled on a more flexible basis.
- Required Training: All Teaching Assistants must participate in a mandatory, virtual training. You will be compensated for this training time.
