Vacant Position – Early Years Teacher’s Assistant
The American International School of Lesotho is seeking a highly qualified and active Teacher’s Assistant to educate and guide our young learners. The successful candidate will inherit a class that is organized, structured, and has established systems and routines. This position is for someone with a passion for elementary education, a desire to build each child’s social-emotional, physical, and academic path, as well as an appreciation for multi cultural and diverse backgrounds.

Qualifications/Education: Diploma in Education
Experience working with and supporting children aged 3-5 years old in formal learning settings.

- Responsible for assisting Pre-school, Pre-Kindergarten, and Kindergarten teachers as needed and assigned.
- This may include, but is not limited to planning, co-teaching, and supervising students.
- Understands age-appropriate needs for this developing age group and can manage a classroom of students with social and emotional learning needs. Provides students with consistent examples, practice and grace as they navigate learning how to appropriately express their feelings.
- Assists with the feeding, and grooming needs of students.
- Collaborates with the classroom teacher to create a developmentally appropriate, child centered environment that establishes positive student behavioral expectations conducive to all learners needs through structured routines, and positive behavioral interventions.
- Collaborates with the classroom teacher to create a structure that values positive relationships through intentional implementation of appropriate curriculum.
- Collaborates with the classroom teacher to assess students’ understanding regularly and takes ownership of making necessary adjustments to instruction based on data, to reach goals despite setbacks.
- Supports the classroom teacher with conveying content in creative and engaging ways that align to standards.
- Collaborates with classroom teacher to use instructional practices that challenge, motivate, and engages all students, and facilitates equitable, active student participation.
- Collaborates with classroom teacher to build a productive learning environment where every student participates and is valued as part of the class community.
- Supports the classroom teacher with partnering and engaging with families to build collaborative and respectful relationships in service of student learning.
- Regularly reflects on practice, seeks, and responds to feedback, demonstrates professionalism, self-awareness and commitment to continuous learning and development.
- Seeks to participate in and contribute to a collaborative adult learning environment.
- Minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience – Only candidates with experience will be considered.
