Division: Information Systems

Job Purpose

To provide technical support on institution systems and their services.

Key Functions

  1. Provide routine support to Ministry staff on LAN, WAN, and other ICT issues.
  2. Provide support in monitoring the use of internal data and voice communication facilities (equipment and software).
  3. Maintain systems integrity and provide user guidance.
  4. Provide support in the development and implementation of applications.
  5. Upgrade systems and resolve related operating system issues.
  6. Carry out system startup and shutdown procedures.
  7. Administer user accounts, permissions, and access rights.
  8. Provide desk and on-call support to end-users.
  9. Advise on access control for network users to support the confidentiality and integrity of network resources.
  10. Handle service requests and take part in the recovery and restoration of systems to a correct state after a security incident.

Job Specification

Either:

  • Master’s Degree in Information Technology or Computer Science from a recognized institution, plus one (1) year working experience as an Assistant Systems Support Officer.

OR

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or Computer Science from a recognized institution, plus two (2) years working experience at the level of Assistant Systems Support Officer or an equivalent level of experience in Government or a reputable organization.
