JOB TITLE : SWITCHBOARD OPERATOR
GRADE : C
RESPONSIBLE TO : ASSISTANT ADMINISTRATION OFFICER
MINISTRY : TRANSPORT
JOB SUMMARY
Under the supervision of Assistant Administration Officer, the incumbent should perform the following duties:
1.0 MAIN DUTIES
1.1 Operates the telephone switchboard full time.
1.2 Receiving all incoming calls.
1.3 Coordinates the delivery of messages between officers within and out of the Department.
1.4 Keeps a record of messages received during officers period of short absence from work including those that may be delivered while they are away on leave duty.
1.5 Records and clarifies all out-going calls.
1.6 Responsible for collection of charges for private telephone calls in close liaison with the Accounts office.
1.7 Reports any telephone faults to Telecom.
2. JOB SPECIFICATION
Education and Training
C.O.S.C OR GCE with 1 year relevant experience in operating the switchboard
3. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
The incumbent must be able to:
• Read and write both English and Sesotho
• Listen and be willing to help people
• Have good communication skills
