The SI is a non-profit, public benefit organisation striving to improve the lives of marginalised children and youth in the surrounding areas; transform education from the level of early childhood development all the way through to post graduate level; engage in research, teaching and enabling of a more socially just, sustainable generative way for humanity to interact with the natural world.

Sustainability Institute seeks to appoint a project administrator and assistant to the Director to be based in Stellenbosch.

The purpose of the position is to primarily focus in the education and sustainability fields.

Responsibilities:

  • General administration and support
  • Calendar management
  • Travel logistics
  • Invoicing, contracting and claims
  • Basic finance and budgeting support
  • Research and proposal writing
  • Research, including reading and producing summaries of research across the portfolio of work
  • Events management

Requirements:

  • A post-grade 12 qualification and 5-years of administrative and project management experience
  • Bookkeeping and Excel abilities essential
  • Good English written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to deal with email correspondence promptly and to communicate professionally both verbally and in writing
  • Comfortable working with Google Drive and Google Sheets
  • Good planningandorganisationalskills
  • Ability to workindependently and within a team
  • Good interpersonal skills that contribute to a people-centred working environment
  • It would be beneficial if the candidate has an understanding of sustainability, is values aligned and also has keen interest in education in general
