The Project’s objective was relevant given its alignment to the broader context of the government’s efforts to enhance the skills base, technology adoption and foundation for innovation in the country.

Under the current National Strategic Development Plan 2012/13-2016/2017 , the Ministry of Education and Training (MoET) aims at expanding and upgrading TVET Institutions to become world class in selected fields, improving performance and promoting enrolment in science and mathematics at all levels through quality teaching and improvement of infrastructure and enhancing the foundation for skills development by improving access, instituting appropriate curriculum and best practices in teaching from early childhood to high school.

The relevance of the Project objective was equally in alignment with the African Development Bank’s Medium Term Strategy (2008-2012) through its focus on technical and vocational education, which is part of the third core commitments of the strategy.
