JOB TITLE: SUPERMARKET MANAGER
REPORTING TO: CHAIRPERSON – SETHABATHABA BOARD OF DIRECTORS
ORGANISATION: SETHABATHABA SUPERMARKET PTY (LTD)
JOB SUMMARY
- To manage the entire operations of the Supermarket including supervision of staff, purchasing of stock and maintenance of stock levels. Ensuring excellent customer service and financial profitability of the Supermarket;
- To manage the daily and monthly cash flows, and banking thereof;
- To prepare all required business financial records and compile financial reports as may be required by the Board of Directors (BoD).
2. POSITION DESCRIPTION
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THIS POSITION –
- Daily Operations: Oversee and coordinate daily store activities, ensuring smooth operations.
- Team Management: Supervise and establish performance standards for employees.
- Inventory Management: Monitor stock levels, reorder popular items, and ensure accurate inventory records.
- Customer Relations: Handle inquiries and complaints professionally to maintain excellent customer service.
- Marketing & Layout: Develop strategies to attract and retain customers, merchandise displays effectively, and maintain a customer-friendly layout.
- Supplier Coordination: Communicate with vendors to source new products and negotiate seasonal offers.
- Financial Oversight: Manage cash flows, prepare financial records, analyse profitability, and present reports to the BoD Chairperson when required.
- Compliance & Safety: Enforce health, safety, and corporate policies while addressing hazards proactively.
- Store Audits: Conduct audits to ensure high standards in cleanliness, customer service, and security.
- Pricing Strategy: Set competitive pricing based on market trends and ensure proper labelling.
- Reporting & Accountability: Maintain accurate data on sales and performance metrics to evaluate store efficiency.
3. QUALIFICATIONS
- Essential:
Diploma in Business Management/Retail Management (plus at least 3 years’ store management experience) - Preferred:
Degree in Business Management/Retail Management OR higher (plus at least 2 years’ store management experience)
4. EXPERIENCE
- Proven experience with inventory management and stock rotation
- Familiarity with stock management software AND Microsoft Word and Excel
- Market and product knowledge
- Financial, sales, and operational reports
- Developing strategic marketing plans
- Improving customer satisfaction
- Formulating price policies
- Sales and shop promotions
- Employee supervision.
5. COMPETENCIES
Customer focus, attention to detail, business savvy, sharing responsibility, ability to use computers and applications such as Microsoft Office.
