SUBJECT SPECIALIST – AGRICULTURE, POST GRADE H (M216 084 -256 920 P/A ) NATIONAL CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT CENTRE (NCDC)
Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Senior Curriculum Specialist the incumbent is answerable for the design, development, production and dissemination of curriculum packages including teaching and learning materials for early childhood, basic and secondary education. To achieve this, she/he will cooperate and collaborate with teachers, Field Inspectorate, Central Inspectorate, Examinations Council, and Lesotho College of Education, National University of Lesotho and other relevant Ministries and
Associations. The incumbent will be expected to carry out the following duties:
Main Duties
Conducts situational/contextual analysis to guide decision-making inplanning.
Analyses policy guidelines for developing curriculum.
Develops curriculum objectives.
Develops scope and sequence charts.
Develops syllabus, books and other instructional materials.
Selects relevant instructional materials.
Prepares for curriculum trial-testing.
Undertakes trial-testing follow-ups.
Revises trial-tested materials.
Presents the curriculum to the National Curriculum Committee.
Disseminates trial-tested materials.
Participates in assessment activities that include 🙁 writing of tests items, moderation of examination papers, marking of examinations, national assessment (NAS).
Liaises with relevant institutions (local and international) as well as other government ministries:
Recommends subject panel members.
Conducts in-service training workshops on subject content.
Initiates, supports and represents NCDC in relevant professional associations, institutions and projects.
Coordinates relevant NCDC based project activities.
Participates in relevant NCDC based project activities.
Job Specifications
Master of Science in Education/ with specialization in Agriculture plus two (2) years’ teaching experience
OR
Master of Science Agriculture plus Bachelor of Education in Agriculture with two years teaching experience
OR
Bachelor of Science in Education with specialization in Agriculture with at least five (5) years teaching experience
OR
Bachelor of Science Agriculture plus Diploma in Agricultural Education with at least five (5) years teaching experience
N.B: Master’s degree in Education Curriculum Studies is an added advantage.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of curriculum theory and practice;
Must have acquired skills of curriculum development and evaluation;
Ability to plan curriculum programs;
Should have basic teacher training skills;
Basic skills in a required subject;
Ability to coordinate and relate with teachers;
Interest in a required subject;
Ability to establish effective communication among teachers;
Emotional stability to persuasiveness;
Demonstrate resourcefulness initiative and good judgment;
Display of good practical knowledge of computer skills;
Involvement in curriculum development activities in a required subject.
