SolidarMed is a Swiss NGO, dynamic, flexible and with a clear vision and long-term experience in Lesotho. In 2020, SolidarMed will continue to support the Ministry of Health (MoH) and DHMTs of Butha-Buthe (BB) and Mokhotlong (MKG) to improve the quality of health care and access to primary health care for the remote populations. To facilitate these aims, we are seeking talented and motivated people to fill the following positions in 2020 in our Health First Lesotho (HFL) project. The vacancies are for the coArtHA Trial – a study that seeks to identify the most effective treatment to control Arterial Hypertension in sub-Saharan Africa (in collaboration with University of Basel and MoH), Mobile Health Outreaches in collaboration with Bracelet of Hope, and SolidarMed Programme.

  • Study Nurse – coArtHA Trial Mokhotlong

The nurse will perform the tasks related to recruitment, enrolment, monitoring and follow-up of study patients according to approved protocol. Additionally, he/she will support the existing projects in the district. 

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Enrol and follow up patients as per approved protocol. This includes performing clinical procedures to ensure good quality of care;
  • Work very closely with study team to ensure good quality of patients care;
  • Ensure proper documentation of records;
  • Adhere to the standard operating procedures of the study;
  • Support additional clinical activities within the hospital as directed by the Line Manager/PI.

Skills and Required Competencies

  • A valid registration certificate with the Lesotho Nursing Council
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience of  nursing work in a hospital based within Lesotho health system
  • Sound computer literacy, communication skills, report writing skills, ability to work under pressure, basic knowledge of research principles, sound knowledge or willingness to learn on clinical good practices on conducting clinical trails
  • Ability to communicate fluently in written and spoken Sesotho and English
  • Desirable – At least 1 year of work experience of conducting research

Qualifications – Minimum Diploma in Nurse Midwifery
