PSI Lesotho seeks a highly skilled and results-driven Strategic Information (SI) Assistant to join the team.

About the Department of War (DOW) Project

Department of War (DOW) is a project supporting the Lesotho Defence Force (LDF), the uniform and non-uniform security services of the country as well as their direct beneficiaries.

The project started on a smaller scale in 2005 with the design and implementation of HIV prevention programmes, which focused primarily on training military personnel in HIV prevention and HIV testing and reinforcing the capacity to increase uptake of HIV counselling and testing services.

Until 2012, when Voluntary Male Circumcision (VMMC) services were launched, which were fully integrated into the services provided at Thomas Wellness Centre in Makoanyane and are sustained by the institution beyond project life.

The project supports the military with laboratory strengthening activities towards its accreditation.

Under the DOW project, the incumbent will capture and clean data, including supporting report compilation to ensure efficient and timely data reporting. This position will also perform supportive supervisions, which include spot checks for counsellors and nurses and verification in terms of data collection, ensuring completeness of data capturing tools.

What You’ll Do

The incumbent must be able to perform all the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Keep track of received forms/data from different departments.
  • Review submitted forms/reports from the field to identify incomplete, inconsistent or illegible information.
  • Perform data entry for all delivery service channels.
  • Ensure that client files are well kept and made available to the service provider.
  • Assist with data cleaning and compilation of monthly, quarterly and annual reports.
  • Assist with data analysis and data presentations.
  • Assist with registering clients in e-register and monitor correct usage of electronic systems.
  • Ensure timely procurement of Research and M&E department.
  • Assist in the planning, organisation and implementation of Research and pre-testing activities.
  • Maintain confidentiality at all costs.
  • Must be able to meet deadlines.

What You’ll Bring

  • Degree in Statistics, Demography, Economics, Sociology, Health Information Management or other related social sciences field, with at least two (2) years’ experience in Monitoring and Evaluation.
  • Diploma in Statistics, Demography, Economics, Sociology, Health Information Management or other related social sciences field, with at least four (4) years’ experience in Monitoring and Evaluation.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel, SPSS, e-register, MOH DHIS2 and Microsoft PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Good reporting skills, both verbally and written.

Key Competencies

  • Ability to track errors in captured data.
  • Ability to interact with a dynamic environment.
  • Basic knowledge of DHIS2 tracker tools and data entry platforms.
  • Basic knowledge of HIV/AIDS as a public health issue.
