Position: Stock Controller
Department: Food and Beverage
Reports To: Restaurant Manager
Position Summary
Radius Restaurant is seeking a highly organised and detail‑oriented Stock Controller to join our restaurant team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing stock levels, controlling food and beverage inventory, reducing waste, and ensuring accurate stock records to support smooth restaurant operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive, check, and record all incoming stock (food, beverages, and supplies)
- Monitor stock levels and ensure sufficient stock is available at all times
- Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly stock counts
- Investigate stock variances, shortages, and discrepancies
- Ensure correct storage of stock in line with food safety standards (FIFO, expiry dates)
- Work closely with kitchen and bar staff to control usage and minimise waste
- Place stock orders and liaise with suppliers
- Maintain accurate stock reports and documentation
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and hygiene regulations
Qualifications and Requirements
- Minimum of five (5) years’ experience as a Stock Controller or in a similar role within a restaurant or hospitality environment
- Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent is essential
- Diploma in Hospitality, Inventory Management, or a related field is advantageous
- Strong numerical, analytical, and organisational skills
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Knowledge of food and beverage stock control systems
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Basic computer literacy (Excel or stock management systems preferred)
- Proficiency in inventory management systems and Microsoft Excel
Skills and Attributes
- Experience working with POS or inventory management software
- Knowledge of cost control and food costing
- Excellent communication and customer service abilities
- Well‑groomed and professional appearance
