JOB TITLE               :           STATISTICIAN

RESPONSIBLE TO :           SENIOR STATISTICIAN

JOB SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the Senior Statistician, the Statistician is responsible for collection, analysis and interpretation of health data, conduct surveillance activities, produce statistical reports and establish an electronic health data management system.

Main Duties:

  • To Manage data collection activities from all health facilities
  • To Develop data collection tools for all the health programmes
  • To Train health care workers and Assistant Statisticians on the use of data collection tools
  • To Supervise extraction of existing health data from existing sources
  • To Instigate new data management procedures and train implementers
  • To Analyze and interprets data using statistical tools and software (e.g DHIS2, STATA, SPSS)
  • To Identify statistical trends and relationships to determine disease patterns
  • To Present statistical report and data visualization for different audiences and decision making
  • To Develop and maintain statistical tools, database and programmes
  • To Regular monitoring of routine health data quality
  • To Produce and disseminate health statistical reports
  • To participate in planning and budgeting of the HMIS unit every financial year.
  • To liaise with other BOS divisions on technical issues.
  • To Assist the Senior Statistician with the training of Survey enumerators and supervisors as well as organization of all field work material.
  • To Supervise Assistant Statisticians
  • To appraise the performance of Assistant Statistician quarterly to increase productivity.

JOB SPECIFICATION

Degree in Statistics/Demography PLUS 3 years working experience in a related in the Public Sector
